Good spots to setup and launch:

Topanga Beach
Just park on the highway just North of Topanga Canyon Rd. and walk down to the beach.

Just North of the Marina Del Rey marina outlet

Playa Del Rey - just South of the Marina outlet. This is a great location:

- easy access
- few people
- huge open area to set up
- beach sand is soft....no rocks
- free parking or in the rare case on a busy weekend there is a cheap lot at the very North end of Pacific Ave (the street that runs closest parallel to the beach) - $1/hr
- life guards are on duty and keeping an eye out
- last two weeks LAX wind meter has had the best consistent wind, this is very close to LAX
- waves are small because it is semi protected by the marina barriers
- consistent nice side on shore wind (from what I've seen)
- you don't get caught in Santa Monica PCH traffic getting there
